{ Local Popcorn }

Our local farmer's market is pretty nice. I like it anyway. My wife and I went there for lunch today, to get me out from work for a bit, and to just have a nice lunch together. We're sweet on each other like that. As we drove down there we noticed that the market was bustling pretty nicely. In fact the lat was pretty full, and the walkways looked decently full of people browsing through the wares being offered at the booths. Seeing how busy it was, my wife exclaimed to me "I don't like the market anymore, it's a complete yuppieville".

Like I said, I like the market, but I could easily see what she was saying. Most of the people there were there because it's becoming a bit of a local scene. It used to be a place where people who wanted/needed local produce and wanted/needed to support local farmers and business persons. It's not so much that anymore. Honestly, they're selling bananas and oranges, and other produce with the stickers still attached. I realize this, my wife realizes it. But that doesn't change the fact that it's rapidly growing to become just another strip mall. Still, we support those who sell their own wares there, like the guys from the Spice Rack. They have great stuff, in fact we picked up a bag of their popcorn just this afternoon. It's the best popcorn I've ever had, and I don't think I would ever bother eating that pre-bagged junk anymore.

Maybe I should have started this post with a Dear Diary, heheh. Ah well, farmer's markets are important, and I hope that this will just serve to expand local interest in them.
