{ Wrap-it-up }

It was april when I begged for an invite to the soon-to-be online presentation program called SlideRocket. As you know, I got one just because the people working there are awesome and can feel the pain of the little people. Or they just know that good service gets great participation. A lot of companies could learn from that alone.

I used it, in cooperation with two coworkers, to put together a presentation that seemed to go over fairly well at the OLC's 2008 Reference and Adult Services conference. Here's the presentation, it's a bit cut and dry, a lot of librarians and library staff are still starting to explore many Web 2.0 sites and apps, so it comes at the question of "How can libraries use 2.0 technologies to their benefit?":

I just want to say, Adobe AIR platform makes everything sexy. I could put up pictures of how long it takes a peach pit to dry out, and it would still be enthralling. And the functionality of Flash blends a presentation together so nicely, I wouldn't want to use anything else. Sadly, we started off using something else, PowerPoint. The more I use MS Office, the more I begin to cringe. Just don't get me started on the character restrictions of an excel formula... SlideRocket let us upload what we had in ppt, and converted it all to flash with simple-to-use editable fields.

The presentation took place about 2 weeks ago, and thanks to both the fact that SlideRocket is cross-platform and the offline SlideRocket viewer, we were thankfully prepared. We ended up doing the presentation through my personal laptop, which is a Mac. The presentation itself went great, but more than that was the fact that had we stuck with ppt, we would have been S.O.L.

Once again, thanks SlideRocket! I'd give you two thumbs up, but aparantly Roger Ebert wants us to know, it's trademarked... Two opposable preaxial digits up!

Also, you'll probably see me post one or two more things using Wordle. I've got a bunch of data that needs looked at, IN COLOR!
